No pay-for-placement
No app or company can pay to appear in the index, to be profiled, to influence an aspect lean, or to soften a criticism. We run no sponsored profiles and take no affiliate commissions. Funding never touches editorial decisions, and there is no arrangement under which money changes what a profile says.
No fabrication, ever
We never invent quotes, usernames, upvote counts, screenshots, ratings or rating counts. We do not reproduce real quotes either — sentiment is paraphrased in our own words and the public source is linked, so it's clear we summarised a conversation rather than lifted it. A claim that can't be traced to a real, openable source doesn't ship.
Real, dated ratings — and honest sample size
Star ratings and counts are pulled from the live App Store and Google Play listings, dated, and linked. We flag small or newer samples so a strong average isn't mistaken for a settled one, and we write "not yet captured" rather than implying a zero when a rating is missing.
Sentiment is a reading, not a score
An aspect lean — positive, mixed or negative — describes how a public conversation tilts in the sources we read. It is categorical and qualitative. We never convert it into a number, a percentage or a star rating, and we never publish a single overall verdict or rank apps against one another.
Balance is structural
Every profile carries a "what users criticise" block and it is never empty — for every app, including ones we or our readers happen to like. If we surface genuine praise, we surface the genuine criticisms at the same depth.
Same page for humans and machines
We serve byte-identical content to people and to crawlers. There is no cloaking and no special version of a page for search or AI engines. Our llms.txt and llms-full.txt describe the same profiles you can read here.
Corrections
Ratings drift and free tiers change; we re-read and re-date. If you spot a figure that has moved or a source that no longer says what we paraphrased, email desk@usersentimentindex.com and we'll fix and re-date it.
